The Grass Is Greener festival in Cairns jumped out of the gates with a lineup that might just be one of Australia’s coolest. It has a strong focus on local talent and features a smattering of international acts to really push this into ‘essential’ territory. Not only does the event offer some quality music, but they also provide some options that incorporate hotel, flights and tours of the beautiful local area which include the Great Barrier Reef. We decided to peruse the lineup and offer you our Top 5 picks of what is essentially an all-around killer lineup.
Hayden James
The Sydney-sider is probably best known for his first single “Permission to Love” which garnered worldwide love and attention, even hitting the #1 spot on Hype Machine’s ‘most blogged about tracks’, and becoming the most played track on the national broadcasting giant, Triple J. Hell, it even earned over 9 million streams on Spotify.
You might not be aware of this: not only is he an efficient songwriter, but he also owns a deft hand at commanding dance floors with his energetic DJ sets. In a Hayden James set you can expect to hear everyone from Bonobo to Chemical Brothers to Kllo. And that is precisely what he will be doing at TGIG when he headlines the event with a rare DJ set.
Herobust
Hayden Kramer, better known as Herobust, is a bass music producer from the USA, and he is also the highest ranked international on the lineup. Recently he finished the ‘Vertebreaker World Tour’ which saw him travel to countries like China, India, Canada and more. Right now he is the throes of the American Summer where some his bookings included events like EDC Las Vegas, Bonnaroo, Shambhala and much more. Herobust seems not to be constrained by genre, and with the support of Diplo, Skrillex, Datsik, Flosstradamus, and Marshmello, he has proven that he is pushing forward into uncharted musical territory.
There is no one out there that can re-create the unique basslines Herobust produce, and hearing those crazy creations on TGIG’s massive sound system will be something else.
Godlands
To say that this Adelaide-native is on an upward trajectory is putting it lightly: she is currently skyrocketing into space at the speed of light. Just yesterday she announced that she has been signed by Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak recordings, and also launched her ‘Hellraiser’ tour which will see her play well over 30 shows across four different countries. Her wicked trap productions are causing damage across the globe with significant media like Magnetic Mag and EDM.com showering her with praise. This might be the last time you can see Godlands before she genuinely transforms into a global superstar.
Made In Paris
She might be Made in Paris by name but she is based in Sydney. Known to her parents as Paris Forscutt, the producer has slowly turned the attention to her via some deep and moody tech releases on global labels like Upon Access, Motorik, Solomo, Mooseekaa and Recovery Collective. She can also boast that her tracks received support from the worlds biggest DJs including Maceo Plex, Deadmu5, Sven Vath and more. She is not just known for her productions, as her DJ sets are continuing to open up many doors for her. Just some of her upcoming gigs include the Listen Out Festival and opening up for Stephan Bodzin this coming December.

Sydneysider ËMMË is building a discography that is becoming increasingly harder to ignore. In fact, if you don’t know his name, you might have heard his music. Maybe it was the festival-ready trap sounds of party-starter ‘Bad Mind’ which reached over 886,000 Spotify plays, or it might have been the bewitching and feel-good tones of ‘Good Love’, a track which made its way into the top 15 of Australian radio’s recent most played tracks. On top of that, it was also added to Spotify’s ‘Monster Dance Hits’ and ‘New Dance Beats’ playlists where it received over 350,000 Spotify plays. The producer will be rolling out his brand new live show at TGIG, and we have a feeling it might just be a highlight of the whole event.
