After releasing their funky 2013 mega-hit, “Lay Me Down,” Tim Bergling (Avicii) and legendary producer, guitarist, and founding member of CHIC, Nile Rodgers kept in close contact, according to a recent statement the latter made to The Sun.

Rodgers says the pair procured a whopping 10 tracks before his younger counterpart’s untimely death at 28 years old this passed April. The duo purportedly held a series of covert recording sessions, in which they created more than an album’s worth of content. However, Rodgers says he is wary of releasing the secret bundle without taking the proper precautions.

“I’ve just been contacted about putting out my stuff, but I’ve got to see how it is because I was very close to Tim, and the music we didn’t put out was extraordinary,” says a reluctant Rodgers of a potential post-humous Avicii release. “He was blown away, as was I, but, because of what I know, which I will not talk about, I want to make sure that whatever work I do would be to the benefit of the people Tim would want that project to benefit.”

Rodgers has yet to confirm a release date for the joint records, nor has he definitively stated whether or not the tracks will ever see the light of day at all. On behalf of Avicii fans across the globe, let us hope that day comes sooner rather than later.
