Four Tet shares first essential mix since 2010

Four Tet Essential Mix 2018

Following the release of his ninth studio album, New Energy, Kieran Hebden — aka Four Tet — has reworked the likes of Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Madvillain, Bicep and released a string of tracks under a mysterious symbol moniker, in addition to being added to a plethora of festival bills worldwide.

Now, Four Tet has unveiled his first BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix since the London producer debuted on the program in 2010.

The mix features an expansive array of tracks including Four Tet staples such as “Lush” and “Planet,” as well as a number of releases from such genre pioneers as Basement Jaxx, Ben Klock and Bicep. The mix also includes a number of deep cuts, unreleased tracks and the off kilter (yet strikingly tasteful) inclusions of tracks from Stephen Brown, Destiny’s Child, Selena Gomez and the queen of pop herself, Britney Spears.

Closing with Visible Cloaks’s galvanizing orchestral track, “Wheel,” the mix serves to be a triumphant return to the Essential Mix platform for Four Tet, one that sees the seasoned artist continue to reinvent the constructs of intelligent dance music.
