Hardwell fans will not find the powerhouse producer among 2018 bookings in the club circuit, given the producer’s recent announcement that he’s taking a temporary but indefinite reprieve from touring.

“I have decided to clear my schedule indefinitely to be completely liberated from targets, interviews, deadlines, release dates, etc.,” Hardwell wrote in a Facebook post that notified fans of his retreat from the heavily scheduled lifestyle of a world-renowned DJ. “I’ve always dealt with all the pressure that comes with the heavy touring schedule, but for now, it felt too much, like a never ending rollercoaster ride,” Hardwell continued, “I always try to give myself 200% and in order to keep doing that, and feeding my creativity, I need some time off to be me, the person behind the artist and reflect on everything that happened the last few years.”

Hardwell will host his All Ages show at the Ziggo Dome of Amsterdam Dance Event in October, but will otherwise halt his touring schedule. The producer notes that he will continue to “keep making music” in the future and will “never let go of it” and “always aim to….connect with [his] fans through it.”

Hardwell’s step back from the demanding nature of his own touring schedule further exemplifies the growing candor among DJs, as more artists within the electronic scene continue to speak openly about the mental and physical challenges that touring imposes.
