Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V is finally here, rapper announces long lost album’s September 27 releaseLil Wayne Carter V Release Date

Lil Wayne‘s years-long Tha Carter V saga is finally over, with the rapper’s ill-fated fifth album officially slated for release on his birthday, September 27. The long-awaited forthcoming installment in Weezy’s Tha Carter LP series was able to move forward following a settlement with Cash Money records boss Birdman. The album, tied up in legal red tape for years, has gained a notoriety similar to Dr. Dre’s famously never-going-to-land Detox. All that is over now.

As a byproduct of the legal closure, Lil Wayne was able to sever ties with his former co-home, putting his own Young Money records imprint back under his sole control. The falling out started all the way in 2014, with Wayne addressing Tha Carter V‘s consistent delays in a a new video announcing the album. Wayne thanks his fans for unwavering support and promises something special, something “more than him,” on the LP to come. Two separate 50 million dollar lawsuits, one shot up tour bus, and too many online spats to mention later, Weezy’s project will finally land on Thursday.
