Live Nation Entertainment has placed president of film and television productions, Heather Parry, on a leave of absence after 23 former employee allegations of workplace abuse — reported by a lengthy exclusive on Variety. The decision came six months after 10 employees filed HR reports against Parry’s actions, and two days after an employee took to the company’s Twitter for an SOS letter, reprimanding the events promoter and venue operator for protecting an “abusive monster.” Live Nation since deleted that tweet.
Parry was accused of disparaging black people, using derogatory and homophobic slurs, physical abuse, and fat shaming her Happy Madison receptionist on a regular basis. She was quoted by a former digital producer at Live Nation, Joseph Shepherd, after growing frustrated with a black employee and saying, “Black people, you can’t count on them for anything.” Shepherd also mentioned he was forced to seek therapy after working with the fear monger, while another employee developed panic attacks after Parry threw an iPhone charger at her. Various former assistants reported crying at their desks, and Shepherd noted she was especially hard on women.
The allegations came from employees at Live Nation and Parry’s former company Happy Madison, where she worked for 10 years prior. Parry was the executive producer of Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born, and produced documentaries with Lady Gaga and Diddy.
