After his appearance on RL Grime‘s No. 1 album, NOVA, Miguel taps Mark Ronson and Hudson Mohawke to co-produce a new single, “Vote,” for the new movie Crazy Rich Asians, now in theaters. Ronson, 2016’s Grammy Award-winner for Record of the Year with “Uptown Funk,” adds his signature groove and crisp live instrumentation to the upbeat soundtrack contribution giving Miguel the groundwork to ride catchy versework and glide across the hooks. You can hear Hudson Mohawke’s pronounced low-end rumblings — a stark contrast to the troll piece the Scottish producer recently made for Sacha Baron Cohen.
Filmed by Jon M. Chu based off the critically-acclaimed Kevin Kwan book of the same name, the movie looks to break down barriers and address Asian representation in Hollywood by giving roles that aren’t typically given to Asians in American films.
