Santigold is dropping a surprise dancehall mixtape, I Don’t Want: The Gold Fire Sessions on July 27, via Downtown Records. In anticipation for the release, the rapper born Santi White has shared a single off the mixtape, “Run the Road.” Airy, distant vocals cover a bed of lush synths and thumping drums to create an amalgamation of dancehall, electronic stylings, and pop.

Santigold teamed up with Mixpak Records co-founder, Dre Skull, to record the ten-track project. The pair told Rolling Stone during the two weeks of recording, they’re, “playing with reggae and Afro-Caribbean influences while pushing and pulling their pillars with Santi’s singular point of view,” unearthing old, previously unfinished tracks she started with Ricky Blaze and EDM Dad Diplo. According to Santigold, the album’s quick preparation and run-and-gun release strategy is designed to align with current music utilization trends and music media’s breakneck-paced consumption landscape.

“Run The Road” marks Santigold’s first single release sing 2016, “99¢.” In 2016, she was featured on OneRepublic‘s “NbHD.” Earlier this year, she was featured on Matt and Kim’s “Glad I Tried” and Diplo’s “Worry No More” featured Lil Yachty.
