New Skrillex music is not a matter of “if,” but of “when.” Audio engineer Randy Urbanski further fanned the flames of suspicion that Skrillex would release fresh material in the near rather than the distant future in his birthday tribute to Skrillex’s OWSLA label, which celebrated its seventh anniversary in early September. Urbanski’s comment that he couldn’t wait “till this guy [Skrillex] is back changing the game next month” provided an unofficial confirmation that the star producer would likely drop new music in October.
Skrillex’s recent Instagram story supposedly showed the producer at work on a remix of Travis Scott‘s “Sicko Mode.” Given Skrillex’s success with his 2017 rework of Kendrick Lamar‘s “Humble,” a Skrillex stamped take on Scott’s Astroworld staple certainly isn’t far fetched, nor is the likelihood that listeners would relish another electronic/rap hybrid remix from the OWSLA head.
