Snapchat partners with SeatGeek for in-app ticket purchases

Snapchat users will soon have the ability to purchase tickets within the app, thanks to a newly forged partnership between Snap Inc. and ticket distribution platform, SeatGeek. The forthcoming in-app ticket acquisition feature, originally piloted in February, is a part of Snapchat’s broader attempt to attract a more “mature audience” to the app. The function will enable Snapchatters to browse and buy tickets to a range of events, from Broadway shows to concerts. Tickets to various different sporting events will also be available.

To view tickets, Snapchat users would search a given artist or athletic team’s Snapchat channel and swipe upwards once there to see ticket options. “We see Snapchat as an incredible opportunity for teams and artists to increase discovery of their events, while also potentially rewarding their most dedicated fans with exclusive offers,” SeatGeek co-founder Russ D’Souza said of the development.

Neither Snap Inc. nor SeatGeek proposed a date by which users can anticipate in-app ticket purchases to formally commence, but given that both entities announced their alliance on June 8, the feature can be expected to roll out shortly.
