One of the world’s most popular festivals, Tomorrowland, is undergoing a huge makeover for this year’s edition.
According to a recent newspaper for locals in Belgium, the Creative Director for Tomorrowland shared some insight in to this year’s theme, “The Story of Planaxis.”
Tomorrowland Creative Director Christophe Van den Branden mentioned for this year’s Tomorrowland, “We invite the People of Tomorrow to a world underwater, where they can discover how beautiful the ocean is and that we should cherish it.”A clue about this year’s unique “underwater” theme.

“We invite the People of Tomorrow to a world underwater, where they can discover how beautiful the ocean is and that we should cherish it,” says Christophe Van den Branden, creative director of Tomorrowland. “The beauty of the sea, that’s what it’s about.”
Planaxis is the name of a snail species. “A powerful name too, and with reference to the golden ratio, the divine relationship that can be found in a shell, among other things. All of that will be part of the architecture of this underwater world.” In addition to the main stage and a number of new podium concepts, Tomorrowland will be given a new form and style this year. “We provide a totally different look compared to the previous years”.
The organization started from a clean state for inventing the new theme. “We did not rely on anything and created something entirely new from our offices in Antwerp. That has cost us a lot of time and effort for this edition, “says Van den Branden.
Tomorrowland kicks off on July 20 in Boom, Belgium. EDM Maniac will be there once again covering Weekend 1 of this year’s festival.
