Review: Victor Calderone – 1/19/2018
The techno DJ from Brooklyn, New York brought his old school sound to Bassment in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he played to a packed house on January 19. The EDM scene in Charlotte has steadily been growing over the past few years. Shows at Bassment range from Trance to Bass to Techno. The underground feel, coupled with amazing talent like Victor Calderone, has made it a fan favorite within the Charlotte dance community. Check out some great footage of the event here:
A Night of Techno
Down the stairs into Bassment is a dark and narrow room that gets louder and louder as the night goes on. There is one bar in the venue as the DJ plays on the back wall. Getting up to the front can be a bit of a challenge but everyone has a chance to get right on the DJ booth. They can watch the artists work, which gives the venue a very intimate feeling.
This feeling played right into how Victor approached his set. Coming onto the decks on the back of both very well received opening sets by Kev and Greg P, Victor used the momentum and slowly worked his own music in.
