American rap icon A$AP Rocky has been found guilty of assault in Sweden following a street altercation earlier this summer, though he will avoid jail time. Rocky’s trial began July 30 in Stockholm, following the rapper’s detention in a Swedish prison for one month. After the three-day trial wrapped on August 2 the “Distorted Records” emcee was allowed to return to the US to await his verdict.

Rocky was initially detained alongside team members Bladimir Corniel and David Rispers for allegedly attacking Mustafa Jafari in Stockholm on June 30. Prosecutors allege that the trio beat, kick, and threatened Jafari with a bottle.

“Based on statements from two witnesses, the court finds that the defendants were not subject to a current or imminent criminal attack,” the ruling said.

Because the court could not prove a bottle was used during the attack, Rocky, Rispers, and Corniel will not have to serve further jail time. The conditional sentence given to Rocky means that he will be subject to a probationary period of two years. The court awarded damages of 12,500 Swedish Krona ($1,300) to the victim, “for violation of his integrity and pain and suffering.” The defendants were also ordered to pay fees of 80,610 Swedish Krona (nearly $8,400) for the victim’s lawyer.

While Rocky’s lawyer maintains that the artist is “disappointed” with the outcome, the artist has evaded additional jail time in Sweden which means he can return to touring and creating music, though Rocky has clearly stated he will never return to Sweden.
