After his arrest in Stockholm following a street altercation on June 30, Rakim Meyers—known internationally as A$AP Rocky—will spend at least another week behind bars in a Swedish jail.

A judge granted the request from prosecutors to keep Meyers in pretrial detention until at least July 25 so they may complete their investigation. The prosecutors contended Meyers was a flight risk as grounds for the decision. Meyers’ attorney, Slobodan Jovicic, told reporters the decision was “disappointing” following the hearing.

“I think it’s very unjust. He is very tainted (by) this,” Jovicic went on to say.

Recently, Donald Trump made a statement on the matter at the behest of First Lady, Melania Trump:

“Actually, the one who knew about A$AP Rocky was our first lady. She was telling me about, ‘Can you help A$AP Rocky?’” he said.

“We’ll be working with the State Department and we hope to get him home soon,” The First Lady said in response.

“Many, many members of the African American community have called me, friends of mine, and said, ‘Can you help?’” Trump said in the Oval Office. “So, I personally don’t know A$AP Rocky, but I can tell you that he has tremendous support from the African American community in this country and when I say African American I think I can really say from everybody in the country because we’re all one.”

Since Meyers’ incarceration, many advocates in the US have been very vocal in demanding the Harlem-native rapper’s release; even going so far as to make calls to Congress.

Fellow musicians alongside social activists like Rev. Al Sharpton have taken up for Meyers with the hashtag “#JusticeForRocky” becoming widespread across the internet.
