Featured artist Kah-Lo sings “This the hottest DJ in the world right now” on Idris Elba‘s latest, “Ballie,” and as just one listen of Elba’s new single indicates, Kah-Lo might be onto something. The dynamic producer originally presented the house/hip-hop crossover at the 2019 edition of California’s annual Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. Elba made his Coachella debut from the festival’s underground oriented Yuma stage, and notably brought Kah-Lo to the desert, to perform the song live alongside him. Fortunately for those in attendance and live streamers alike, the wait for “Ballie’s” official release was not long.
The entrancing number starts with a deep vocal that growls the song’s title in the track’s opening seconds. Kah-Lo’s vocals slowly filter in, to sit atop the tune’s mid-tempo house beat. Low toned synths peppered throughout amplify the track’s titillating appeal. “Ballie” is now ohut on Elba’s own London based imprint, 7Wallace.
