Nicolas Jaar opened 2020 with a series of projects released at a breakneck pace. Over the course a few weeks, the experimental expert dropped a mixtape, EP, and his LP 2017-2019 under his Against All Logic moniker. While he has departed from his A.A.L. project for now, Jaar continues his frenetic prolificacy with a new LP, Cenizas released via Other People.
Cenizas is nearly an hour of forward-thinking experimental production, where all sounds are welcome into Jaar’s mix. From the enveloping piano of “Garden” to the coarse atmosphere of ‘Sunder,” throughout the LP it’s clear to see why Jaar has earned his reputation as a master sound designer. Despite his rapid release pace for his A.A.L. project, Cenizas is Jaar’s first LP under his birth name since 2016’s Sirens.
