Nightlife in San Diego is getting not one but two brand new nightclubs in 2022. Following the announcement of Insomniac’s expansion into San Diego, a move made through its purchase of the defunct Omnia nightclub downtown, Bassmnt Nightclub is making a long-awaited announcement regarding its plans moving forward. According to a post on Bassmnt’s socials, the club will close after a nine-year run, undergo extensive remodeling and upgrading, and ultimately reopen as Bloom Nightclub this spring. It remains unclear if Bloom will maintain the reputation of Bassmnt as a haven for dance music. Neither club responded to Dancing Astronaut‘s request for comment.
Bassmnt Nightclub was a favorite destination among dance music lovers in Southern California, and the venue notably had a partnership with Insomniac Events that saw it hold weekly shows featuring ARMNHMR, Wax Motif, and Nitti Gritti, to name just a few. Trill Fridays at Bassmnt were also staples of SoCal’s music calendar.
