5 EDM Festivals to Explore This Summer

Festival season is in full swing, and with such a large variety to choose from, it’s not easy to narrow down the list. Here’s a list of some EDM music festivals you can attend this summer that are well worth the trip.

1. Electric Zoo

August 31-September 2

Who doesn’t love a late-summer trip to the Big Apple?

This enormous festival takes place on Randall’s Island Park every Labor Day Weekend, and is so large that it is named “The 6th Boro” of New York City.

Since 2009, this festival has brought all subgenres of EDM to a growing crowd of over 90,000 people. The lineup is stacked every year with artists such as, Alesso, Kaskade, Marshmello, Martin Garrix, and Tiesto all performing in celebration of the festival’s 10th year in action.

2. Electric Forest

June 21-24; June 28-July 1

Electric Forest is an escape into the woods of Rothbury, Michigan for two whole weekends of amazing music and good vibes.

Complete with camping grounds, psychedelic lights, and breathtaking structures, you’ll be surrounded by enchanting sights and sounds, and people wishing each other “Happy Forest.” Forest has its own culture, and its festival fashion is unique as well. It is a sanctuary for many of its attendees, and many of them consider the Forest to be home.

3. Das Energi

August 17-18

Taking place in Salt Lake City, Utah, Das Energi is two days of high energy and intense dancing. The festival takes place on the salt flats of SLC, and features unique art installations bound to catch your eyes and your hearts. The festival started in 2011, and has grown to include three stages located near the Great Salt Lake.

This year’s lineup includes Deadmau5, Rezz, Snails, Joyryde, and more.

4. Tomorrowland

July 20-22; July 27-29

Tomorrowland is held at De Schorre in Boom, Belgium. Although a long travel distance for Americans, Tomorrowland is the pinnacle event for serious festival goers.

The festival even has its own planes to get you there, its own newspaper every day, and everything from salons to restaurants and anything you may need. With 16 stages, 400,000 attendees, magical surroundings and pyrotechnics, it’s no wonder that Tomorrowland is one of the best festivals in the world- because it’s like stepping into another world.

5. Moonrise Festival

Moonrise takes place every August at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. This outer space-themed festival takes you on a journey through sound, lights, and lasers. Moonrise is an all-ages festival, so it’s a great option for first-time goers as well as the veterans.

The festival boasts art installations, delicious food trucks and four unique stages that provide a sensory overload and EDM styles from hard-hitting dubstep, to house music, to live EDM acts. It’s time to make your festival experience out-of-this-world.

Remember that no matter what festivals your summer takes you, express yourself and lose yourself in the music and the artwork. There are so many opportunities to make the most of every moment.
