What words can describe the one and only DJ Funk? Pioneer? Party Rocker? Ghetto House Icon? Lets start at the beginning, DJ Funk grew up on the musically rich West Side of Chicago where he was exposed at an early age to Chicago, New York & Detroit dance music. Developing from his early influences he started DJing out when he was just a teenager at house parties, school dances, and neighborhood clubs; selling mix CD’S in the hood with his former crew to make ends meet. Some of his early DJ influence were Grand Master Flash, African Bambaata, Farley Jack Master Funk; basically all the original dance pioneers and there’s to many to name. Hip-Hop was also a big influence on DJ Funk and with his early DJ sets he helped push Hip Hop into the chicago club scene when it’s wasn’t yet popular or mainstream. Mixing House, Techno and Hip-Hop DJ Funk pioneered the “Ghetto House” sound and this sense of crossing boundaries has made his music so appealing and enduring to many people across different musical scenes.

DJing professional for over a decade DJ Funk has produced anthem after anthem of bouncing “Ass & Titty” Dance Music for his very own record company Dance Mania Records Inc. Plus, Funk’s remix resumé reads like the who’s who of dance music: Licensing deals with Sony, Virgin, Fabric Live, Moonshine and Ed Banger Records which is distributed by WEA. “REMIX” Basement Jaxx, Justice, DJ Sneak, Fast Man Dj Assault, to name a few. While licensing tracks to DJ’s such as Carl Cox, Bad Boy Bill, Jeff Mills, Dave Clark, Jackmaster and many more for their mix albums.

DJ Funk has played all over the world in high profile clubs in Chicago, New York, LA, Miami, Detriot, Paris, London, Germany, Scotland, Ireland, Amsterdam, Hawaii, Belgium, Malta, Canada, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Finland, Australia, Norway even Tokyo. Sharing the stage along the way with Daft Punk, Green Velvet, Justice, Ed Banger, Franky Bones, Funk Master Flex, Ice T, The Roots, Steve Aoki, Ken Ishi, Calvin Harris, DJ Qbert, Wu Tang Clan, Armand Van Helden, The Booty Call Crew, Boyz Noize, The Crookers, Grand Master Flash, Two Live Crew, African Bambaata, Dance Mania Family, Run DMC to name drop a few and the list goes on and on and on .

One of His biggest selling release to date is “Booty House Anthems” which has sold over 1,000,000 copies. Now he’s ready with a whole new agenda. He recently bought one of the top recording studios in the chicago area and with his remix of Justice’s indie-club hit “Water’s of Nazareth” a whole new generations of fans are finding out about what DJ FUNK is all about. He’s poised and ready to put “Ghetto House” music back on the map with his 2008 release “Booty House Anthems 2? downloads over 3,500,000 on the internet .

Buck Rodgers

Open Format // Indianapolis, IN // Ground Control Dj’s / 9-5-9music / Fo

When one thinks of House music, one might picture a bass-booming, light-flashing club in cities like Las Vegas or Los Angeles. But Indianapolis DJ Jordan “Buck” Rodgers is proving that even the Midwest knows its music by blending hip-hop, R&B, electro, breaks, Top 40, and funk sounds to create his own signature sound.

Fresh off last week’s Red Bull Thre3style Regional Finals in Chicago, where Rodgers placed second, Rodgers has taken Indianapolis and its surrounding areas in full-force, and doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon.

Beginning with a love of drumming and musical influence by his bass and keyboard-playing grandfather, Rodgers picked up his first set of turntables at age 12 while living in Orlando, Florida. But a move to Indianapolis in 2001 prompted the beginning of his DJing career after he met local DJ Topspeed, who later became Rodgers’s mentor. A mixshow in 2008 with WJEL 89.3 followed, and DJ Buck Rodgers was born.

Since then, Rodgers has become a household name in the Indianapolis music scene, with appearances at the 2011 Indianapolis 500, NASCAR Brickyard 400, and just about every club, bar and music venue in the Circle City. He also teaches classes at local Sam Ash Music Stores, molding minds of aspiring DJs every week.

Even with such a full musical plate, Rodgers is currently working on his first EP (which is slated to be finished this summer), as well as other projects blending live drums and guitars to create original music.
