Since the pair first met in the studio back in 2013, Diplo and MØ have displayed a fruitful creative synergy. Their combined musical moxie has resulted in multiple chart-topping hits, including “Get It Right,” “xxx 88,” “Cold Water,”, Jack Ü‘s “Ü Know,” and, of course, Major Lazer‘s 2015 smash, “Lean On.”
Now the ride-or-die pair have teamed up once again on a bright new release just in time for summer, “Stay Open.” A short and light-hearted track, Diplo’s laid-back production style lays down soft guitar chords and swirling synths to capture MØ’s deep, soulful melodies. The single is a nice intermission from Diplo’s California EP, which remained focused on honing the producer’s hip-hop-driven sound.
