Green Velvet Announced Melbourne Day Park Party!

Untitled Group & Pitch Control are proud to present Green Velvet (aka Cajmere), who will be playing at a secret park location this November 17th in Melbourne.

A huge support line up will include Canadian selector, Heidi, who has played at some of the biggest electronic music festivals in the world including Pitch Music & Arts earlier this year. Joining her will be Phil Kieran, a valued addition having collaborated with Green Velvet multiple times in the past, as well as local favourites Boogs & Interstellar Fugitives.

The location, located in a lush inner-city Melbourne park has yet to see an event of this nature before.

Green Velvet

Adopting the persona Green Velvet for Cajmere’s techno-oriented pieces and DJ appearances, he became the champion of new wave Chicago beats through the ’90s—known best for hits such as “Preacher Man,” “Flash” (a No. 1 U.S. dance hit in 1995), and 1997’s laugh-inducing “Answering Machine.”

Cajmere’s first transformation came when he left master’s degree studies in chemical engineering to turn a hobby into a career making music, influenced by the sounds he had been exposed to as a science-fiction-loving, video-game-playing kid whose father was a part-time Chicago DJ.

In 1993 Cajmere created Relief Records. The label became an outlet for his and other producers’ more track-oriented work. The Relief label also gave birth to the experimental and eccentric, afro wig-wearing entity we know as Green Velvet. The last decade has seen Green Velvet become a fan favourite across Europe, playing to huge crowds at festivals in addition to live radio appearances and club gigs.

Heidi

Best known as a trailblazer in today’s house and techno realm, Heidi launched her prosperous career under Berlin-based duo M.A.N.D.Y. From there she moved on to host her own radio show on BBC Radio 1, “In New DJs We Trust,” which has since evolved into a permanent residency that takes place each Thursday evening.

She embodies an unyielding energy that has afforded her opportunities throughout her career such as spearheading a label, Jackathon Jams, and hosting her own Jackathon party series across the globe.

Phil Kieran

Kieran is one of Ireland’s best-loved club DJs and techno legends who has worked with everyone from Green Velvet to Peter Hook and Gary Numan. For over 15 years the Irishman has been throwing down techno bombs on the scene’s most credible labels, including Tiga’s Turbo Recordings and Novamute (on which he remixed Depeche Mode). His breakthrough track “Skyhook” is widely considered to be a dance floor classic.
