Fantastic Voyage crew member Sam von Horn has cast off into fresh musical waters with the release of a convivial new EP of edits.
Having been a member of Justin Jay‘s Fantastic Voyage since its inception, it should come as no surprise that von Horn’s musical repertoire, like the label’s, is a zealous amalgamation of funk, soul, and R&B.
He touches on a number of storied tracks rich in poignant soul on the EP, but his reworks are respectively sumptuous. As von Horn takes on Nuyorican Soul & George Benson’s “You Can Do It (Baby),” Moses Sumney’s “Lonely World,” Vulpeck’s exceptional tune “The Birdwatcher,” and more, it’s clear Made Some Edits stands as a robust attestation to von Horn’s captivating potential behind the decks.
