Virtual Self unveils glitchy music video for ‘Ghost Voices’

Virtual Self

Concurrent with the emergence of Porter Robinson‘s new alias, Virtual Self, was an immediate and solidified aesthetic to go along with his sudden shift in sound. Accompanying his exploration of psy-trance trappings was a look heavily inspired by late 90s graphics and CGI creations.

It’s not surprise then that the project’s first music video, for the track “Ghost Voices,” doubles down on this technology-heavy style. An abundance of flickering screens are accompanied by ghostly robed figures with glitching, digital faces — a clear indication that music was not the only thought Robinson had in mind when creating Virtual Self.
