William Crooks is a producer of unique sensibilities in the electronic sphere. His tracks always contain elements of melodiousness that distinctly standout amongst his peers, and are indicative of his ability to affect a singer-songwriter mentality into tracks that are equally at home in one’s headphones as they are in the club.
The artist’s latest, “Hollows” is another strong example of his style. Copious autotune layers — in service of the track and not a flourish or indulgence — unfurl over the track’s subdued opening. They briefly fall away during the track’s highpoint of thudding kick drums and choppy arpeggios, matching “Hollow’s” emotional complexity with that of production prowess.
