Record sales spiked a record high in the week ending December 19, with sales clocking in at over 973,000 LPs in what was the heftiest week of vinyl album sales in Neilsen Music history, according to the analytics company. It began tracking sales in 1991.

Specifically, vinyl album sales accounted for 25% of the 3.92 millions albums sold across formats during the week of December 19, and 31% of the 3.16 million physical albums moved during this period. At 28,000 copies sold, Harry StylesFine Line was the most popular vinyl LP purchase through the week. Styles’ metric marks the fourth largest sales week for a vinyl album that Neilsen Music has recorded to date. Fine Line follows in the commercial footsteps of Adele’s 25, Pearl Jam’s Vitalogy, and Jack White’s Lazaretto.

Billie Eilish’s When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, The BeatlesAbbey Road, and the Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 soundtrack, Queen‘s Greatest Hits, and Michael Jackson‘s Thriller trailed Fine Line, selling 12,000, 11,000, 10,000, 9,000, and 8,000 units, respectively.
