Manila Killa awes with first EP release post Hotel Garuda splitManila Killa Run Away Single 1

Manila Killa has released a seven-track debut EP titled 1993, and each track is a distinctive part that makes for an intriguing whole. While the thematic of the EP is undoubtedly “feel-good” music, the compilation takes twists and turns through a diverse range of genres spanning from progressive house to electro to commercial crossover-type releases. The artist writes on his Twitter that the EP is a year in the making, and it certainly displays this pre-meditation thanks to the impressive collection of tracks.

“Wake Up Call” featuring Mansionair showcases another side of Manila Killa’s production abilities. Contrasting to his usual progressive house sound, the track retains faint drum & bass elements with a mellow and flowing vocal line that create a chilled-out track with a bit of a kick.

“Run Away” enlists electro house synths that create a retro sound and transports listeners to an earlier era in the beginning of the track. The song takes a surprising twist, jumping into a drum line with repetitive vocal cuts that build back into the electro chorus.

“Skin” featuring outsideOUTSIDE takes a bass backdrop and a bouncing chime melody creating an interesting juxtaposition between heavy sonic moments and lighter ones, leaving the ears wanting for more.

1993 is out now via Moving Castle.
