Tame Impala announces sweeping Australian run, pledges to donate tour proceeds to bushfire reliefTame Impala Kevin Parker Press October 2019

The mastermind behind Tame Impala, Kevin Parker has announced that his psychedelic pop-rock outfit will embark on its most expansive tour of the New Zealand and Australia area to date. Come April, Parker and company will touch down in Auckland, New Zealand for the inaugural show of the five-date run in the region. From there, they’ll make their way through Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and finally, Parker’s hometown of Perth. The leg will mark Tame Impala’s first slate of performances in Australia in four years. The Tame Impala live ensemble will be joined by Khruangbin at each of the five stops.

In addition to setting dates for their Aussie return, Tame Impala also stated that a portion of the band’s 2020 tour proceeds would be donated to support the country’s bushfire relief efforts. “I’ve been hanging out to tour Australia for a long time now, so I’m super excited to finally be able to announce [these dates],” Parker said in a statement. And it seems he’ll be putting the money to good use.

In the past few weeks, I’ve been devastated to see what’s been happening with the fires at home and we want to do our bit to help, so we’re going to be donating $A300,000 ($206,000 USD) to bushfire relief charities.

The Australia dates are part of Tame Impala’s larger 2020 tour fabric. The indie fan favorite will also be making an entrance for several US and Mexican dates in support of their forthcoming LP, The Slow Rush, due February 14.
