Black Artists Database (B.A.D.) will broaden its focus to include journalism, visual art, + more
‘Black Artists Database’ is a community-driven platform whose mission lies in supporting African American musicians. The organization was developed last year after the Black Lives Matter movement and is now looking to expand its footprint to include more areas of focus. The platform currently has more than 3,500 profiles on artists, writers, journalists, and editors, amongst other professions.
In addition to rebranding from Black Bandcamp to ‘Black Artists Database,‘ the platform will look to work on their editorial content by introducing ‘B.A.D.mix,’ which will focus on written in-depth stories and coverage of African-American artists. The series will kick off with Detroit Techno DJ, Eddie Fowlkes. The platform will also include a mixed-media series called ‘Voices,’ which will tell untold stories of African-American artists.
Mixcloud is just one of the primary companies that will be supporting B.A.D. The platform will release the audio series following every episode which will also be supported by other big-name brands. By rebranding Black Bandcamp as ‘Black Artists Database,‘ the community-driven platform will continue to bring to light the talent, creativity, and originality of the African American community.
