Epikker Remix iskwē’s Ode To The Indigenous Community Of Canada “Nobody Knows”

Dance music is social music as much as it is anything else, and Epikker and iskwē have aligned on this truth via their latest remix: “Nobody Knows.” iskwē produced the original track back in 2017 as means of drawing attention to the horrors the indigenous community of Canada (of which she is a part) face in their native homeland.

‘Nobody Knows’ was written from a sensation of chaos that I, along with many of my community members, were experiencing after losing yet another one of our young female community members,” iskwē said in a statement. “Missing and murdered indigenous women and girls are the epicenter of this song. We are people too, and our lives are important. This song was written to honor us, the ones who remain in the walking world and the ones who have departed back to the sky.”

Unfortunately, similar incidents are occurring in Canada at an increasing rate, and iskwē saw fit to revive her message against a new sonic background. With the help of Suniel Fox and Henry Strange‘s new project—Epikker—the trio turned a stirring bass ballad into a seething electro house composition.

iskwē’s vocals retain their same emotive delivery on this new version, bringing the same attention to an issue that means so much to her and her community. Listen to the full remix below.
