Ibiza Clubs May Reopen As Soon As October

According to reports from The Nightlife Employer’s Association, Abone, clubs and venues in Ibiza and the other Balearic Islands could fully reopen as soon as next month. This impression comes following positive meetings with the Spanish government.

Ibiza Nightlife Manager, José Luis Benítez and Abone President, Miguel Pérez-Marsá recently met with tourism minister Iago Negueruela with the intention of working out a reopening strategy. According to Majorca Daily Bulletin, Negueruela “wants to open all economic sectors in the safest way possible and is aware that the nightlife sector is one of the most affected by the coronavirus restrictions.”

There have been some easing of COVID-19 related restrictions on the Balearics of late. Currently licensed bars and cafes can remain open until 2AM under limited capacity and without dancing. Specific to Ibiza, night time gatherings happening between 2AM and 6AM may operate freely. This edict may change after the scheduled review on Wednesday, September 29.

While the traditional Ibiza season is all but over for 2021, any steps towards safe reopening are good signs for a full return in 2022.
