Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, Sarah Couch and David Marsten have been acquainted since high school. Shortly after their school years Sarah and David spent time traveling solo, finding inspiration in cultures and art from around the world. Later down the road, after feeding their appetite for travel, Sarah and David reunited through a mutual friend and created their electro-R&B project, DejaVilla. The twosome have been releasing records via Ultra Music since their inception.
Celebrated for their ability to blend Jamaican riddims and afrobeats with contemporary electronica, Kingston is at the heart of all things DejaVilla. Their latest offering “Chocolate In Your Pocket” is a groovy, colorful number with patois-tinged vocals and seductive production work. Equipped with soulful melodies and infectious chords, this DejaVilla original is the twosome at their most authentic.
