Lollapalooza Will Return To Chicago This Summer

The festival will return to Grant Park from July 29 – August 1

As the summer months draw closer, it is seeming like festival season is finally upon us as lineups seem to be dropping left and right. Now, Lollapalooza is the latest festival to announce that it will be returning for a weekend full of music in the windy city as Variety is reporting that the City of Chicago has given the green light for near-to or full capacity events. A statement regarding the official announcement and lineup will likely be made next week.

Sources have disclosed to Variety that the city will be aiming to reopen with no restrictions by July 4, nearly 4 weeks before Lollapalooza is expected to be held. In recent months, the city has loosened its restrictions, allowing 15 people per 1,000 square feet and in a recent podcast, Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino stated that,

“I think we’ll be ok in July forward, and the rest of the world is months behind, but in the U.S., in certain states, by July you’ll be at full capacity outdoor shows.”

If the speculation is true, then Chicago will be joining New York City and a shortlist of other major U.S. cities that have given the green light to allow large gatherings to occur this summer. The Governors Ball in New York City is currently scheduled to take place in September 2021.

We will update you with more information once both the official announcement and lineup have been announced.
