The approval of outdoor events of 75,000 people will start on August 13
Tomorrowland has received some exciting news this week, as the Belgium government has approved outdoor events of up to 75,000 people starting on August 13, just two weeks before Tomorrowland is scheduled to take place. According to the Belgium government, attendees at large outdoor events will be required to present a COVID-19 “safety ticket” or a negative COVID-19 test prior to the event.
A Tomorrowland spokesperson disclosed to Billboard that, “We are very positive, and we look forward to organizing a festival at the end of August.” So far, Tomorrowland has not publicly commented on whether the festival will continue as planned, or what measures will be set in place if the festival were to occur. The Belgian government currently has plans to reopen the country by September 1, which would fall right in between Tomorrowland’s two weekends on August 27-29 and September 3-5.
Tomorrowland is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) music festivals in the world, and generally brings in 70,000 attendees a day. If the event were to continue as planned, it would mark the first large-scale dance music festival since the COVID-19 pandemic.
