Hundreds Of Astroworld Lawsuits Have Been Aggregated Into One Major Case

Last week, a Texas court panel ruled that hundreds of lawsuits coming as a result of the deadly Astroworld will be consolidated into one massive case. The nearly 400 different filings against Live Nation and Travis Scott will now be heard by one single judge for pre-trial proceedings.

On November 5, 2021, during the first day of Travis Scott’s Astroworld, a stage rush occurred which eventually led to the deaths of 10 individuals and hundreds more injuries.

In total, the lawsuits are representing over 2,800 individuals who claim to have fallen victim to negligence on the part of Scott, Live Nation, and other organizers. The total damages sought from all of the suits has now reached billions of dollars.

According to Billboard, this new development was agreed upon by both the prosecution and the defense. Allowing one judge to handle all the cases can streamline procedures like discovery and could make handing down a final settlement much quicker.

One large settlement is a likely way the lawsuits will end. In 2017 following the shooting at Route 91 Harvest country music festival that left 61 people dead, MGM Resorts paid a single settlement of $800 million to 4,400 victims and relatives.
