Ultra Music Festival Takes The Lead In Sustainability

On March 6, 2022, Ultra Music Festival brought together ravers and environmental organizations for a shoreline cleanup at Bayfront Park. This event kicked off the 2022 launch of Ultra Music Festival’s updated “Mission: Home” sustainability program. Participants collected over 1,000 pounds of trash, proving that music lovers are incredibly powerful when they come together!

Introduced in 2019, “Mission: Home” is Ultra Music Festival’s sustainability plan. This plan focuses on preserving Bayfront Park, reducing the event’s environmental impact, and bringing together ravers to protect the environment. The festival company already has several sustainable initiatives such as the Leave No Trace campaign and bans on Styrofoam and single-use plastics, but they plan on furthering their efforts in 2022.

Ravers live by the phrase “PLUR”: Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect. Respect for the Earth has been lost in much of today’s festival culture: from wasteful fashion trends to the high energy usage of lasers, fireworks, and visual effects. In 2022, Ultra Music Festival is making a step in the right direction for a more sustainable festival culture.
