MOVEMENT 2017 ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE, STAGES and SHOWCASES

DETROIT, April 6, 2017—Movement Electronic Music Festival is pleased to announce its 2017 stage lineups and programming, featuring over 110 performances across six stages inside Detroit’s legendary Hart Plaza on Memorial Day weekend, May 27-29.

Newly named stages include: Pyramid Stage (formerly Beatport Stage), Stargate Stage presented by THUMP (formerly Made In Detroit Stage presented by THUMP), Resident Advisor Underground Stage (formerly Underground Stage). The Sixth Stage is now theMade In Detroit Stage.

Festival organizers are excited to have Movement Yoga presented by Detroit YogaLabs back on-site, taking place on Sunday (May 28) and Monday (May 29) at the Made In Detroit Stage.

Day 1 (Saturday, May 27): Richie Hawtin will perform his new audio-visual show,CLOSE – Spontaneity & Synchronicity as he headlines the Movement Main Stage. The Main Stage will also boast a very special Movement debut performance by Detroit Techno pioneers Juan Atkins, Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson as The Belleville Three. Meanwhile, Carl Craig’s Detroit Love showcase will take place on the Stargate Stage presented by THUMP; and the Red Bull Music Academy Stage – now celebrating its 10th year at Movement will host Los Angeles-based rapper, music producer and prominent member of the OFWGKTA crew, Earl Sweatshirt, along with Factory Floor – live andLarry Heard aka Mr. Fingers – live, just to name a few. Red Bull Radio will be livestreaming from the Red Bull Music Academy stage throughout the festival weekend on redbullradio.com.

Day 2 (Sunday, May 28): the Main Stage will feature a headlining performance by world-renowned electronic music artist and producer deadmau5 as his Techno alias, Testpilot. Meanwhile, hip-hop icon Juicy J closes out the Red Bull Music Academy Stage and Innervisions founder Dixon will treat festival attendees to a three-hour set on the Pyramid Stage. Steve Rachmad will perform as STERAC on the Resident Advisor Underground Stage and Kevin Saunderson’s ORIGINS showcase will take place on theStargate Stage presented by THUMP.

Day 3 (Monday, May 29th): dance music legend Carl Cox will close out Movement 2017 on the Main Stage, while festival favorite Chris Liebing takes the helm on the Pyramid Stage; plus, Carl Craig will bring his acclaimed live show, Carl Craig presents Versus Synthesizer Ensemble to the Main Stage following Claude VonStroke’s festival debut as his hip-hop alter-ego Barclay Crenshaw. Meanwhile, Jamie Jones will host the Paradiseshowcase on the Stargate Stage presented by Thump and Detroit’s very own Danny Brown takes over closing duties at the Red Bull Music Academy Stage.
