Montréal-based disco, funk and new wave purveyor, Kristian North (formerly of garage-punk group Babysitter) is a songwriter whose poetic wordplay and deep crooner voice perfectly portray his candid songs. The music he creates strut down analogue lane, quaint confessions, cloaked desires and mythical references. Following up on his debut effort, The Last Rock N Roll Record, North is returning with a sophomore full-length album, Passion Play, currently slated for release this April 30 on Mothland.
In honor of this announcement, North has shared the album’s butter-smooth first single, “Fantasy.” With nods to George Michael, who North religiously listened to for years, “Fantasy” positions North’s deep, lilting vocals alongside crystalline pop sensibilities and propulsive, disco-driven beats.
